The streets are no place to call home!
In one way or another, all of us have been impacted by inflation and the struggling economy. While many of us have been able to deal with these challenges, rising costs have had a major impact on low-income individuals and families, forcing some of them into homelessness. There is a growing number of mothers and children who seek our help. Our Bishop Ott Sweet Dreams Shelter provides the safe haven and the time that parents need to get back on their feet, so they can take care of themselves and their families. We are working hard to meet the current demand, and we need your help.
Homelessness is a Nightmare for a Child
For children who become homeless, life itself can feel like a nightmare. Their homes, their neighbors, even the beds they slept in, have disappeared overnight. Emotions like happiness and confidence have been replaced by anxiety and fear. Suddenly, the world is a very scary place. Families in our community have been hit hard by the impact of the rising costs of food, utilities and rent. A layoff, a missed paycheck, or an illness can lead to a desperate situation. Our shelter is the answer to the prayers of mothers and fathers in need. We provide a hand-up and a safe place to stay. During these difficult times, we need your support, so that we can offer these families shelter, security, and the time they need to get back on their feet.

During these difficult times, we need your help more than ever. Every year, through our Sweet Dreams effort, we ask people to pray for those we serve. Please save this prayer and make it a regular part of your spiritual life.

Sweet Dreams Prayer
Lord God, Giver of Life,
Fill us with your Spirit.
Use our hands to shelter the homeless;
Use our hearts to enable sweet dreams;
Use our voices to end homelessness,
May our actions improve life for others,
And reflect your abundant love.
