Spread the Word - Fill a Prescription for the Needy!

Good health is a priceless blessing that we often take for granted until something goes wrong. For many of the people who come to the St. Vincent de Paul Community Pharmacy, something has gone terribly wrong. Chronic illness and poor health have robbed them of so much, and their quality of life depends on proper medication. This is especially important when someone is suffering from serious, life-threatening illnesses such as heart disease, high blood pressure, or diabetes. When you’ve worked hard all your life, when you’ve been the person that others turn to, it’s difficult to swallow your pride and admit that you’re the one who needs help now.

Time after time, we see the embarrassment on someone’s face as they admit that they’ve never had to ask for help before, but they have nowhere else to turn. Because of the support of people like you, we are able to fill the prescriptions they need. The general public often thinks that some government program like Medicaid expansion is taking care of prescription medicines for all low-income individuals, but that’s not the case.  We see patients who work hard, but make a little too much to qualify for Medicaid, and can’t afford to pay insurance premiums. Most of them skip doses of life-sustaining medicines or break tablets in half, desperately trying to “stretch” their medicines.

The photos you see here represent just a few of the thousands whose lives have been changed by our pharmacy. They were all touched by God’s love and the generosity of our community. Your generous support has helped us to give them the precious gift of health.
Pat Shingleton, WBRZ-Channel 2, and the Baton Rouge Clinic have come together once again to help us get the word out about our pharmacy and the Fill a Prescription for the Needy campaign. Last year, we filled prescriptions worth $1.3 million for people who couldn’t afford their medicines.

Can you help us by making a financial gift? $28.00 fills a typical prescription. How many can you fill? We want to provide as many life-sustaining prescription medicines as possible for people in desperate need. If you can afford to give, please do so by clicking here.

Please spread the word about our Fill a Prescription for the Needy campaign. If you know someone who can’t afford their prescription medicines, please refer them to the St. Vincent de Paul Community Pharmacy. Together, we may be the miracle they’ve been praying for.

We thank you again for your prayers and support. As we live our faith, as we share God’s love, we are making a real difference in the health and well-being of the needy in our community.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Michael J. Acaldo
